Spaghetti and Meat Sauce

Tender spaghetti coated in a rich, meaty sauce. A classic comfort dish that warms the soul and satisfies the appetite.

INGREDIENTS:
16 oz | San Giorgio® Spaghetti |
1 lb | lean ground beef |
1/2 cup | chopped onion |
1 | garlic clove, minced |
2 cans (14 oz) | tomato purée |
1 cup | water |
1 can (6 oz) | tomato paste |
1 Tbsp | chopped parsley |
1 Tbsp | sugar |
2 tsps | dried basil leaves |
1 tsp | salt |
1/8 tsp | ground black pepper |
DIRECTIONS:
- In 10-inch nonstick skillet, brown meat. Add onion and garlic; cook until onion is tender.
- Stir in tomato pureé, water, tomato paste, parsley, sugar, basil, salt and ground black pepper; simmer 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare pasta according to package directions; drain.
- Serve pasta with meat sauce; sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
