Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Baked Macaroni and Cheese is the ultimate comfort food. Tender macaroni pasta smothered in creamy cheese sauce and baked to golden perfection.

INGREDIENTS:

2 cupsSan Giorgio® Elbow Macaroni
4 Tbspsbutter
2 Tbspsflour
2 Tbspsonion, minced
2 cupsmilk
2 cupsshredded American cheese
1 tspsalt
1/2 tspground black pepper

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Prepare pasta according to package directions; drain.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour and onion. Gradually stir in milk and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir in cheese, salt and pepper until cheese has melted. Stir in cooked pasta.
  5. Pour into a 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Bake 30 minutes.

Tips

Add 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs over the top before baking for a crispy top layer.
